In answer to Mrs. Eddy's question...

In answer to Mrs. Eddy's question found in one of her beloved hymns (Poems, p. 75), "Felt ye the power of the Word?" I can joyously reply that I have. I should like to relate a healing experienced before our baby was born. I awoke one day not feeling well, and physical disturbances arose which indicated that our baby might arrive prematurely.

I felt unhappy and ill at ease over this, because of three past experiences of a similar nature that had ended each time in the loss of the child. But almost immediately the angel thought came: "You are now under Christian Science treatment and need not accept the erroneous suggestion of a premature birth. In Science, man can know only the true idea of God, which is never immature, premature, or incomplete, but forever whole, perfect, and complete."

I felt better after this, and I decided to read Mrs. Eddy's article called "The New Birth" (Miscellaneous Writings, pp. 15–20). This article gave me much spiritual food for thought and enabled me to look away somewhat from the false picture that I was being tempted to accept.
