Daily recognition of the omnipresence...
Daily recognition of the omnipresence and omnipotence of divine Mind, the governor of all creation, along with individual willingness to listen to the still small voice, brings unlimited good into one's experience. Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 254), "When we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path." That this is true has been proved to me many times.
The following incident was such an occasion: during the Second World War, I worked in one of the offices of a large Army supply depot, which was on the outskirts of a metropolitan city. This work necessitated my getting up very early in the morning in order to study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly and to perform my customary duties before arriving at the office. I had just begun the study of Christian Science, and I found it difficult at times to study the lesson because of this new schedule. But I remained steadfast, and I soon began to realize the blessings of my morning meal of spiritual food. This verse of the Bible was an inspiration to me (Ps. 143:8): "Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee."
After work one day I was walking toward a friend's car when a three-ton Army truck hit me, knocking me down and running over me, although my body was clear of the huge wheels. As I lay there with the wheels looming large beside me, I held to the thought of my true being and of God's omnipresence. The truck slowly backed up, and I got up and walked to the main office. I was not disabled, but I was taken home in an Army car. There I went immediately to the textbooks, the Bible and Science and Health, silently thanking God for His ever-present love and protection. Soon I was free from all effects of the accident.
