It is my desire to glorify God by submitting this testimony of healing, which I hope may be helpful to someone going through an experience similar to mine. Some years ago I found myself involved in problems of grief and heart trouble. For months these problems continued, and I felt as though I were at the edge of a pit and ready to topple over the brink.

With the help of Christian Science practitioners, who worked for me at different times, and through my own sincere and prayerful study of our two textbooks of Christian Science, the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, my healing came. Though it was slow, I am grateful that I was enabled to read, ponder, and apply the truths I found and learned to make them my own.

I recalled that the Israelites of old had been led through the wilderness so that they could learn the lessons they needed. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy gives us this definition of "wilderness" (p. 597): "Loneliness; doubt;darkness. Spontaneity of thought and idea; the vestibule in which a material sense of things disappears, and spiritual sense unfolds the great facts of existence." For a time the state of thinking in which I found myself was that of "loneliness; doubt; darkness." But as the light of Truth began to break in my consciousness, I saw that I was in "the vestibule in which a material sense of things disappears, and spiritual sense unfolds the great facts of existence."
