Christian Science came into my life more than thirty years ago, and through its study I have experienced the truth of the verse in Psalms (18:19), "He brought me forth also into a large place." Fear, timidity, and selfishness have been overcome in great measure, and joy has replaced a tendency to morbid dissatisfaction.

Two experiences stand out as milestones in my progress. One of these took place during the depression years of the nineteen thirties. At that time my income came chiefly from giving music lessons and playing the organ in church. One particular summer I found myself with no pupils and without a position. A beloved friend and practitioner, who had introduced me to Christian Science a few years before, was helping me to work out this problem. One morning when discouragement was almost overwhelming, I determined to do what was stated in these lines from a poem published in The Christian Science Monitor:
