LET US CLAIM OUR DOMINION

David, the sweet singer of Isreal, caught more than a glimpse of the majesty of man when he sang (Ps. 8:6), "Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet." A clear understanding of man's God-given dominion is of inestimable value to the student of Christian Science in his endeavor to meet the many demands with which he is faced.

A part of the meaning of the word dominion as given in a dictionary is, "Sovereign or supreme authority; the power of governing and controlling; independent right of possession, use, and control." From this it is to be noted that servitude, slavery, abject submission, are the very opposite of dominion.

The Christian Scientist, understanding man's dominion, finds that he has authority over his own thinking, and that the character and quality of his thoughts determine the harmony of his existence. Thoughts of sin, sickness, fear, hatred, or any other phase of evil constitute bondage, while thoughts of love, joy, peace, and goodness bring liberation.
