As the first tenet of Christian Science...
As the first tenet of Christian Science our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, proclaims (Science and Health, p. 497), "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life." Before becoming a student of Christian Science I earnestly studied the Bible. I wanted to take it as a guide to Life and desired to know the truths contained in it. However, much of it seemed obscure and unrelated to my daily need.
Since becoming an earnest student of Christian Science I rejoice that the study of the Bible, in the light of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, has given me spiritual insight into its teachings. I am very grateful that the great spiritual truth revealed in the Bible is daily becoming clearer and dearer to me.
Through the study of Christian Science I have been healed and abundantly blessed. Sometimes healings have resulted as my own understanding of God expanded, and at other times the healing has come through the loving help of a practitioner. My deep gratitude goes to the consecrated practitioner who guided my first faltering footsteps in Christian Science.
