It is with a great desire to give thanks to God for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and to share the many blessings that have come to me through the years, that I write this testimony. I have been a student of Christian Science for over twenty years, during which it has brought me much good.

Two experiences showed me that this Science, when correctly applied, does heal. A few weeks after becoming interested in Christian Science, I was in Scotland and went blackberrying. I put a berry in my mouth and felt something sting my tongue. On examining the berry I discovered a wasp in it.

I immediately held to the truth in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 390): "Suffer no claim of sin or of sickness to grow upon the thought. Dismiss it with an abiding conviction that it is illegitimate, because you know that God is no more the author of sickness than He is of sin." Recalling that Paul had not suffered from the viper which fastened itself upon his hand, I declared that I was in reality spiritual and under the law of God. After a bit the pain ceased, and there were no further aftereffects. A few days later I related this experience to my hostess, who was not a Christian Scientist. She told me that I must have been mistaken, because if I had really been stung by a wasp on the tongue, it would have swollen unbearably. I realized that the work done in Christian Science had prevented such an effect.
