When I first learned about Christian Science I was very ill. Two surgeons had told me that an operation for a fibroid tumor was imperative and must take place without delay. I resorted to homeopathy in the hope of avoiding the operation, but after three months' treatment the doctor told me that an operation was inevitable. This depressed and discouraged me, and I did not know what to do.

Noticing my discouragement, some friends spoke to me of Christian Science, although they were not students of it. I asked for further information about it, and they told me to attend a Wednesday testimony meeting at a Church of Christ, Scientist. This I did.

Whether I understood all that was read, I do not remember; but I do remember that I grasped the fact that every word read from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was the truth. I took heart from that evening on, and later I asked for help from a practitioner, who lovingly aided me and patiently explained to me that God does not create sickness. I was most happy to know that.
