THE PRESENCE OF CHRIST IS DEMONSTRABLE

How can one be assured that the Christ is present today? By proving through demonstration in daily experience the foundational facts of Christian Science, the Science of the Christ. It was Christ Jesus' unselfed purpose to prove for mankind that the Christ is present and available for all to understand and demonstrate. He said (John 14:12), "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." He also said (John 14:26), "The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

Mary Baker Eddy writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 55): "In the words of St. John: 'He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.' This Comforter I understand to be Divine Science." Jesus was our Way-shower. He showed us how to meet and heal every human problem. He acknowledged the perfect man, in God's image and likeness. He understood the fact of man's continuous perfection so clearly that he healed the sick. What he understood of the truth was the reality to him wherever he went. Wherever he was, needed correction took place, as when the storm was calmed and Jairus' daughter was restored to life.

The Master's chief concern was not so much with what others were thinking about a situation, as with what he knew to be true of God's creation. He dispelled the erroneous condition each time by replacing false thought with the true facts of being. He demonstrated that the understanding of these true facts brings an effective solution in each instance. Jesus knew that the ability to express the healing power of the Christ was God-bestowed—not given to him alone, but available to each and all.
