"Father, show me what I should do." This was my earnest prayer at a time of fear and great distress. Arthritis was making me a cripple, and a circulatory trouble was causing my lower limbs to become smaller. Also there was a stoppage of elimination. I fully expected to pass on.

The answer to my prayer for guidance came very quickly. As though I had been spoken to, I heard this question: "What would you do if you were completely beyond the reach of all material help?" About two weeks before, I had begun the study of Christian Science, and I knew that this question meant I had to decide what course I would follow. I could go back to the old methods that would give temporary relief, or I could continue in Christian Science, trusting all to God. I felt impelled to answer and did so in these words: "Father, I will rely upon spiritual means alone, no matter what the outcome."

The healing did not come quickly, but sometime later elimination became normal. The arthritis was completely healed, as was also the circulatory trouble, and my limbs regained their normal size. I was able to return to my business after an absence of two years. A fear of losing my business and of being unable to support my family passed, and with the help of my son I have been able to branch out and add to my business at a time in life when many think it is time to retire. With the help of consecrated practitioners sick headaches, colds, and fear of contagious diseases have all been overcome.
