Notices
Attention, Members of the Armed Services and Their Families
Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services, which include arrangements for regular Christian Science services, treatment, and other assistance for men and women in the armed forces, extend throughout the United States, Canada, and many overseas areas. Information regarding these activities and lists of overseas Ministers and Representatives will be furnished upon request.
Service personnel or members of their families are asked to send names and addresses of Christian Scientists in the armed forces to Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts.
To enable this department to be of the greatest service, changes of military address should be reported promptly.
Christian Scientists are encouraged to register as such, rather than under the general term "Protestant," although the identification tags issued to them by the Government are usually marked P.
The Mother Church continues to furnish Ministers for forts, camps, bases, and stations, as well as for Veterans' Hospitals. Information regarding Christian Science activities in these installations and hospitals may be obtained from the chaplain's office at each installation and hospital, or by writing direct to the Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services.
For Membership in The Mother Church
Membership in The Mother Church, together with membership in one of its branches, affords opportunity for participation in the worldwide healing and redemptive work of Christian Science, as provided for by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy. Applications for membership in The Mother Church may be submitted at any time. They are acted upon by The Christian Science Board of Directors twice a year, in accordance with Article XIII, Section 2, of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy.
Application blanks and information concerning Church membership may be obtained at Christian Science Reading Rooms, from practitioners listed in The Christian Science Journal, from clerks of branch churches or societies, or from Gordon V. Comer, Clerk, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts.
Tenets of The Mother Church
The Tenets of The Mother Church are copyrighted, and for this reason branch churches and societies are not permitted to print them or to have them printed. But they may be obtained through the Clerk of The Mother Church in two sizes in English alone or in the following translations with the English text: Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish.
The large size (5x8) is used as a basis for membership blanks. The small size (4x6) is used for binding into by-law booklets. Space is provided so that a local printer may add whatever is necessary to meet the particular requirements of the branch organizations.
Prices for English or for translations are as follows:
Quantity Price
50 $1.00
100 2.00
150 3.00
200 4.00 and so on
Unless otherwise specified the large size will be sent. Minimum orders are for lots of 50.
Remittances should accompany all orders and be made payable to Gordon V. Comer, Clerk, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts.
