My interest in Christian Science...

My interest in Christian Science began when I saw in a local newspaper an advertisement of a Christian Science lecture. I attended the lecture and was so convinced by it that I had found the remedy for all the ills of the flesh that I threw away all my medicines. Very soon my husband, my daughter, and I were regular attendants at a Church of Christ, Scientist. Six months later my son, seeing the good that Christian Science was doing for me, went to church with us. He was later healed of liver complaint and is now a member of a branch church.

At the passing of my husband eleven years ago, I was beautifully sustained through the help of a loving practitioner. A month later I was elected First Reader in our branch church, and in my three joyous years in that position I was never absent from my post. Once during that time I was instantaneously healed of influenza. I telephoned a practitioner for help on Sunday morning and said I felt unable to be on duty. She lovingly quoted Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 385), "Whatever it is our duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself." I rose and prepared for the service, entirely healed.

My daughter and I have not had many physical healings, because Christian Science has kept us well. "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46.1). I am deeply grateful to God that our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, revealed Christian Science, the leaven of Truth that is always at work destroying sin, sickness, and death. I am also grateful for the consecrated work of our practitioners and for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church.—(Mrs). Nellie Muir Hyslop, Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia.
