As [Jacob] slept he dreamed and his dream was so remarkable and its effect upon his mind so impressive, that it proved a real and undoubted crisis in the dreamer's life. The first words he uttered on waking were the words of the text. "Surely the Lord is in this place: and I knew it not."... To Jacob it came as a sense of the presence of God

The sense of the presence of God is a source of strength, and will become a constraining influence towards duty... God is present if we but will have our minds and hearts open to receive Him... The presence of God has always been, but men have not always been able to find Him because of their spiritual blindness. God is seeking you! Are you seeking God?
