UPON THE MOUNT

Standing amid the groups where men assemble,
I hear how greed, distrust, and fear have rent
Nations apart: how evil's subtle guise
Would seek to warp the judgment of the wise;
How sin, disease, and lack are prevalent.
While standing there the whole earth seems to tremble.
Turning away, I glimpse reality
Upon the mount. No human eye can see
The glorious view these Love-crowned heights reveal.
In silent awe I stand as one who seeks
The light—a light undimmed by myth-filled years.
Lo, in the east the star of Truth appears.
Pointing the way! The Comforter now speaks:
The pattern on the mount alone is real.
