Christian Science was lovingly presented to me at a time of great need, when my husband suddenly passed on. Although I did not at first accept it, after some time had elapsed I decided to visit a Christian Science Reading Room, where I purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the Christian Science Quarterly. The study of the Lesson-Sermon was then commenced, and it helped me very much.

Through a testimony given at one of the Wednesday evening meetings in a Church of Christ, Scientist, I received a healing of the sense of separation. This statement was quoted by the speaker (Science and Health, p. 361): "As a drop of water is one with the ocean, a ray of light one with the sun, even so God and man, Father and son, are one in being." It has been possible for me to take journeys by air, rail, and sea without any feeling of loneliness. When my sister and mother passed on some time later, there was no sense of loss or separation.

I should like to share an experience which occurred towards the end of 1950. While I was placing coal on the fire a piece of hot metal hit me in the eye. Immediately I declared "the scientific statement of being" (ibid., p. 468). Then I took the textbook and opened it at page 102; there our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, denies reality to animal magnetism. These words of Hymn No. 171 from the Christian Science Hymnal then came to my thought:
