I should like to express through...

I should like to express through our periodicals my gratitude for Christian Science. I have been blessed in countless ways through complete reliance on Truth in the face of adverse circumstances. Numerous physical difficulties have yielded to the Word of God, main of them instantaneously. Others required a longer period of time, but only because human will had to be subordinated to the divine will and the binding beliefs of mortal sense replaced with the glorious understanding of man's freedom from all mortal error.

One of the most outstanding physical healings I experienced was that of severe pain in the side, which began early one morning. I worked for myself as taught to do in Christian Science, but the pain persisted and got continuously worse until I could not move without great suffering. At about 11.30 p.m. I decided to ask for help in Science, and a member of my family was called. Although the pain did not cease, I was instantly released from a gripping fear of appendicitis, which had been with me for many years. Within fifteen minutes I fell asleep, and when I awakened the next morning I was completely free. Neither the painful condition nor my fear of appendicitis has ever returned.

Although I am sincerely grateful for the physical healings, it is for spiritual growth evidenced in a better understanding of man's unity with God that I am most grateful. The blessing of class instruction enabled me to see more clearly the fact that "man is the expression of God's being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 470). This experience continues to be a constant inspiration.
