"THE POINT FOR EACH ONE TO DECIDE"
The question, "What shall my decision be?" is naturally accompanied by an analysis of the problem and the query, "What are the important points in the issue?" Whatever the problem, the progressive thinker bases his decision on the fact of perfect God as cause and perfect man as effect. Mary Baker Eddy writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 195), "The point for each one to decide is, whether it is mortal mind or immortal Mind that is causative." Spiritual causation bears close relation to human progress; and when God, divine Mind, is recognized and acknowledged as the only creator, human decisions manifest their relationship to divine cause.
Thought is ever active, casting its weight into the scale either of Spirit or of matter. Some of our decisions may appear trivial and not likely to exercise any considerable effect on health, happiness, and progress, while others are readily seen to be important in effect. However, no decision is unimportant, trivial as it may seem, since as one "thinketh in his heart, so is he" (Prov. 23:7). Thoughts based on the omnipresence and omnipotence of God are good thoughts, constructive and pure, precursors of health and harmony. The quick decision to think and do good, not evil, to acknowledge health, not disease—mentally rowing upstream against the flow of materialism rather than drifting with it—is true wisdom; and such thinking and acting promote spiritual progress.
In this hour when the decline of materialism appears imminent, individual and collective decisions for spiritual causation have mighty weight in adjusting the balance of human affairs on the side of progress. Shall we wholeheartedly accept and demonstrate the government of divine Principle or shall we submit to the control of human will? This is the point to decide. Human will motivates all evil. Christ Jesus prayed (Matt. 6:10), "Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." We must let the will of divine Mind be done, the will of infinite Love, the will of limitless Principle. Deciding for spiritual causation, we shall learn to prove His will done in our state of health, in our schools and homes, in business, and in the government of men and nations.
