PROVABLE TRUTHS NOT VAGUE ABSTRACTIONS
The correlation between God and His idea, man, is a metaphysical fact which, when understood, finds expression in bodily health. God and man are always to be understood as one in relationship, and yet distinct. God is never man, nor is man ever God; but in Science we understand that man reflects God spiritually, not materially. This Christly truth of being enables all who accept and apply it to advance progressively in the demonstration of it. Thus divinity is made manifest humanly.
Every Christian Science treatment can therefore be correlated in human experience with the establishment of harmony. To be sure, Spirit and matter are not alike, nor should any material condition, good or bad, be mistaken for substance, which is spiritual. Nevertheless, it is a demonstrable fact that the truth of God and man, entertained, establishes health in the body and harmony in human experience.
Some argue that since the material body is but a phase of evil belief, we should not trouble to heal it. They ask, "Why not just let it die?" For reply, let us take this explanation made by Mary Baker Eddy in her book "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 218): "Neither the Old nor the New Testament furnishes reasons or examples for the destruction of the human body, but for its restoration to life and health as the scientific proof of 'God with us.' The power and prerogative of Truth are to destroy all disease and to raise the dead—even the selfsame Lazarus. The spiritual body, the incorporeal idea, came with the ascension."
