First Church of Christ, Scientist, Wayne, held dedicatory services in the edifice at 36016 Michigan Avenue, on Sunday, October 26, 1952. An afternoon service was held in addition to the regular morning service. A brief history of the church was read at each service.

History of the local church dates back to December 4, 1934, when a group of Christian Science students met in a private home to discuss organization for holding services. ... On October 15, 1937, ... it was voted to hold informal services on Sunday afternoons, starting October 24, 1937. On October 7, 1938, a testimony meeting was started and held once a month.

On August 20, 1939, the group moved to 4306 Sophia Street, receiving recognition from The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, as Christian Science Society.
