"THE MEETING IS NOW IN YOUR HANDS"

Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, instituted the Wednesday testimony meetings for the giving and receiving of spiritual inspiration. They are spiritual feasts, at which all the church members are hosts and hostesses to the visitors and strangers. This fact should not be forgotten, for if it is, the meeting will lose much of its animus and inspiration, and the guests will not be fed adequately.

Only a portion of the responsibility rests on the First Reader. No matter how uplifting and enlightening the reading may be, if there is only a feeble response from the congregation the inquirer has not been shown the practical application of the truth, the application which is vital to the furtherance of our Cause and necessary to show the results of gaining an understanding of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.

The First Reader spreads the table for the guests with the spiritual feast he has prepared through hours of loving thought, prayer, and consecration. His part done, he turns to the other hosts and hostesses and bids them fulfill their part, often using these words: "The meeting is now in your hands for the purpose of giving and listening to experiences, testimonies, and remarks on Christian Science."
