I turned to Christian Science for physical healing after medical treatment had previously given me only temporary relief from the pain of facial ague, from which I had suffered for many years, becoming at last a confirmed invalid. At the request of a friend who found me suffering intensely I called upon a Christian Science practitioner for help. As the practitioner talked to me of God, assuring me there is nothing incurable when we recognize God's care of His child, the acute pain left me. I learned to accept my health and happiness as a law of God and not as conditions of matter, nerves, or heredity. With my restoration to health came freedom from fear and timidity, and the enslaving invalidism gave way to a life of normal, useful activity.

Some years later I experienced a healing of malignant diphtheria. The healing was called a miracle, but "the miracle of grace is no miracle to Love" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494). The overcoming of every phase of the difficulty was a revelation to many of my friends. For their love and devotion and for that of the practitioner during this experience, I am most humbly grateful.

There have been many opportunities along the way to experience the promises given in the Bible, as well as in Mrs. Eddy's writings. Such an opportunity came to me one night. I was alone and unable to get to the telephone or to make myself heard. The pain was intense, and I cried out, "I must have some help." These words, so full of power and love, came to me (Ps. 91:11): "He shall give his angels charge over thee." As I reached out to understand what and where those angels were, I knew that somewhere in this wide world there was a Christian Science treatment going on and that it was so universal, powerful, loving, and healing that I could benefit from it. As the wonder and sacredness of this fact dawned on me the healing power of Truth flooded my consciousness. The tenseness and congestion that had troubled me lessened, and I fell asleep. When I awoke, the difficulty had disappeared, and I rejoiced in the beautiful proof of the allness and nearness of God's love.
