ONLY THE GOOD IS REAL

There is abundant evidence today that good is being acknowledged as real power. This is apparent in the growing practice of individuals, industry, and nations of settling their differences through good will at the conference table rather than in the courts or with the sword. Men are seeking more earnestly for spiritual values, finding in them the only real assurance of peace and security.

The Christian Science doctrine that only the good is real has its proof in the innumerable healings covering the entire range of discord and disease. The sincere expressions of gratitude for these healings heard each Wednesday at testimony meetings or read in carefully verified testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals leave no doubt as to their authenticity. The teaching that only good is real has its authority in the Bible, notably in the first chapter of Genesis, where we read that all that God created is very good. God could not be thoroughly satisfied with His creation if evil had any real existence.

When man is understood to be the image of God, every discordant condition is seen as an imposition of what Paul calls the carnal mind. Even today's exposés of evil are evidence of the force of good, of Truth, driving evil to the surface as a boiling liquid causes scum to rise to the top to be skimmed away in a refining process.
