In 1910 Christian Science was first presented to my husband by a man for whom he worked. This man asked my husband if he would like to try Christian Science for a stomach trouble, which was keeping him away from his work. He had doctored for this condition for several years, but had received only temporary relief. My husband called on a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. He received his healing, and gradually a complete change in his thinking was brought about.

In 1914 I was suffering from inflammatory rheumatism, and after I had doctored for a period with no improvement, my husband recommended that I try Christian Science. A practitioner was called, and as I studied the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly for that week, the following verses from the Bible, which were included in it, seemed to have a special meaning for me: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." and, "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 8:32; 15:7). My firm conviction as to the truth of these statements brought about my healing.

Soon we entered our children in the Christian Science Sunday School and began earnestly to become interested in Christian Science. As we put into practice the truth as it unfolded to our understanding, it never failed us and we experienced many blessings, such as guidance, protection, and supply. In bringing up a family, our application of Christian Science, with the help of practitioners when needed, brought the children out of many phases of error, including so-called children's diseases.
