Kansas City, Missouri (Fourth Church).

Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, Kansas City, Missouri, located at 133 South Van Brunt Boulevard, dedicated its church edifice December 30, 1951...

Two services were held: one at 11.00 a.m and one at 4.30 in the afternoon. The church was organized Thursday evening, January 1. 1914, by a group of Christian Scientists who resided in this area, that they might have a church nearer their homes. The first service was held Sunday morning, January 4, 1914, in a new store building on the northeast corner of St. John and Elmwood Avenues. Gladstone Hall, then under construction, was finished shortly, and services were held there until February, 1920, then in Masonic Hall, 5206 St. John Avenue, until 1922, when services were again held in Gladstone Hall.

In September, 1924, two fifty-foot lots at 133 South Van Brunt Boulevard were purchased.... Excavating was begun in October, 1926. The cornerstone was laid December 2. The edifice was completed in April, 1927, and the first service was held in the church May 1, 1927.—The Northeast News.
