THE PRODIGAL'S BROTHER

"Son , thou art ever with me,
and all that I have is thine."

Are you the sheep that wandered,
or one of the ninety and nine
which stayed with the tender shepherd?
And if you remained in the fold,
does your heart resent the compassion
shown him who strayed in the cold?

If the Father's love and forgiveness,
poured forth to the erring son,
cause only your bitter question,
"What gains the obedient one?"
then you too have missed His riches.
The blessing can only shine
on those who have grasped the promise,
"All that I have is thine."
