"THE DESERT SHALL REJOICE"

(Isaiah 35:1)

Tears of grief that seek so unavailingly
To salve the wounded heart,
They leave us wandering alone and aimlessly
In desert lands, apart.

But tears of penitence that flow from contrite hearts
Can water barren land
And make it ready for the seeds of comfort here
Sown by the Father's hand.

Then tears that overflow from wells of gratitude
For sin that is forgiven
Will bless the fruitage all along the narrow way
That leads us into heaven.
