Deepening Our Appreciation of Their Mission

[Note: Extracts from reports prepared for the Reading Room Division by librarians in two branch church Reading Rooms]

Monterey, California

Within three months following the mailing to our church members of a letter inviting them to visit their Reading Room and become better acquainted with it we have witnessed the greatest activity and the highest total of sales for that brief period that has been recorded in the experience of our church.

The letter, which was prepared by a staff member, had the hearty approval of both the Reading Room committee and the executive board. The supporting work in Christian Science on the part of the committee also contributed to the fruitful activity which resulted. As the letter was received, members came in and commented: "We needed that letter to awaken us to the value of visiting our Reading Room more often;" "I'm really going to make an effort to study in our Reading Room. I find I am always grateful when I do;" "Oh, I do want to see the new [Newtype] editions of the Bible and Science and Health."
