MAN'S UNITY WITH SPIRIT

There is strength in unity, for unity is the state of being one. Man, who is created in the image and likeness of God, Spirit, is inseparable from his Maker. Man's consciousness of this indestructible unity is his strength. One who understands this maintains an uninterrupted awareness of man's God-bestowed wisdom, and this gives him courage and composure under all circumstances, even though he has no previous human knowledge of circumstances that may arise. Man's unity with omnipotent Spirit is always established; therefore it is more powerful than any mortal belief that may seem to oppose it.

There are numerous instances recorded in the Bible of individuals who were saved from disaster because they were aware of man's God-given unity with Spirit. There were the three Hebrews who came forth unharmed from the fiery furnace; Paul, who three times was saved in shipwreck and who was not hurt by the poisonous viper; and Peter and the apostles, who were delivered from prison, to mention only a few.

It was because "many signs and wonders" had been wrought among the people "by the hands of the apostles" (Acts 5:12) that the Sadducees were filled with jealousy, fear, hatred, and caused the apostles to be imprisoned. However, the apostles' conscious unity with Spirit brought them liberation from the prison. We read that the angel who brought them forth bade them (Acts 5:20), "Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life."
