Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

The Caldwell News-Tribune

Caldwell, Idaho (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Caldwell, dedicated its new edifice at South Sixteenth Avenue and Fillmore Street on Sunday, February 11, 1951, with morning and afternoon services.

First interest in Christian Science in Caldwell began in 1898, and in 1900 a small group of students began holding services in private homes. As the group increased in numbers it was necessary to move to larger quarters in the city hall. They organized as a Christian Science Society in 1905, and became First Church of Christ, Scientist, Caldwell, in 1921. In 1906 property was purchased on Blaine between Ninth and Tenth Streets, and a church was erected the same year. In October, 1946, this property was sold, and for four years services were held in Masonic Temple and Peckham-Dakan Chapel.
