ALL TRUE KNOWLEDGE IS KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH
Healing in Christian Science, is the result of understanding God and His Christ. Christian Science healing has a wide significance: it includes salvation from all forms of evil and material limitations. Christian Scientists dedicate themselves to the Cause of Christ and are thus essentially Christian. They are Scientists also because they demonstrate the stupendous scientific truths underlying Jesus' teaching. An understanding of the Christ characterized the words and works of Jesus. The rule of life set by Jesus was the model which Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and founder of Christian Science, closely followed, and it is the one which is followed by Christian Scientists today.
As the revelator of Christian Science to this age Mrs. Eddy restored the lost element of Christian healing, which had ushered in the first century of the Christian era. The indelible impression made upon the human race by the words and works of Jesus points to the divine and impelling influence which he exercised through his knowledge of the Christ. "Never man spake like this man" was a statement made of him by the agents of the priests and Pharisees who had been sent to arrest him for his revolutionary teachings (John 7:46). He cracked the foundation of their old orthodoxy, and consequently they resented and resisted him.
The simplicity, purity, and love which characterize the life of Jesus are as essential today as they were at the dawn of Christianity. They are foundational to the advent of the revolutionary changes of thought that must accompany the salvation of mankind. We live in a rapidly expanding universe of thought. On all sides mental barriers are breaking. Discovery and invention reveal breath-taking possibilities. According to a writer on atomic energy, "It will be possible to build large power plants for generating enormous quantities of power in cities as well as in ships." Atomic energy, he says, "could be used to irrigate wastelands where neither coal, oil, nor water power is available and turn deserts into blooming gardens. It could be used to air-condition the tropics and make sub-Arctic lands habitable." He adds that with atomic energy mankind has at last a fuel with enough power to lift them beyond the region where the earth's gravity can pull them back. They thus have a fuel for space ships to carry them to the moon and the planets.
