INSEPARABLE COMPANIONS

The Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, is inseparably linked with the Bible. Christian Scientists seek the spiritual understanding of the Bible, which is clearly elucidated in the teachings of Christian Science.

Mrs. Eddy gives as the first tenet of Christian Science (Science and Health, p. 497): "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life." Christian Scientists use the Bible, together with Science and Health, in their study of the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly and in their daily work. The more they study Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other writings, the more they find them inseparably connected with the Bible.

One of the greatest statements ever made in the English language is the statement known as "the scientific statement of being," to be found on page 468 of the Christian Science textbook. This statement makes plain in comparatively few words the fundamental propositions of Christian Science, all of which coincide with the truth as revealed in the Bible.
