MAN'S INFINITE RANGE OF THOUGHT

Modern inventors have increased the range of mankind's activities to a measure little dreamed of in a past era. Men soar miles above the earth or travel speedily over its surface. But their range of thought in the spiritual realm may still be woefully limited. How often they seem to be sordid and selfish, ignorant of the great capacities of love and intelligence available to them through Christian Science, which reveals God as infinite Mind, divine Love, and man as His unlimited spiritual expression.

This true view of man can be discerned now, and when it is even faintly glimpsed, personal limitations begin to break down. The ingrowing self-interests of humanity then give way to man's eternal participation in divine Principle's unfoldment of good. As the vast range of activity of man as Mind's idea becomes apparent, one's interests gradually broaden, his talents increase, his affections deepen.

Mary Baker Eddy makes helpful statements on this subject in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." She says on pages 258 and 259 "Mortals have a very imperfect sense of the spiritual man and the infinite range of his thought." These words are under the marginal heading "Individual permanency," and our Leader goes on to state that man never falls from his spiritual state. A little farther on she continues: "Through spiritual sense you can discern the heart of divinity, and thus begin to comprehend in Science the generic term man. Man is not absorbed in Deity, and man cannot lose his individuality, for he reflects eternal Life; nor is he an isolated, solitary idea, for he represents infinite Mind, the sum of all substance."
