DAVID'S TRIUMPH

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Boys and girls can help bring about the peace the world is seeking by solving through the healing Christ the inharmonies that seem to arise in their own groups. Perhaps the lesson David learned may be helpful along these lines. David attended the Christian Science Sunday School. He had always loved the Bible stories and loved to listen to the truths of God and to learn of His great love for all mankind.

But there came a time when David seemed disinterested in his Sunday School class. He wanted to talk about Jim, the new boy in his neighborhood, who was big and strong and always won all the fights. He did not even want to listen when the teacher talked about the gentleness and kindness that Christ Jesus always expressed, or when the class talked about the different ways in which Love could be expressed through the week, by putting into practice the Golden Rule (Matt. 7:12)—learning to co-operate with others, whether at home, at school, or at play.

Then, one Sunday, David came to the class very much disturbed. He said the children where he lived were not having fun any more, because every time they started to play, Jim would cause trouble. He would start fights just to show what a good fighter he was. It was making all the children unhappy, and even cross with each other. David did so wish he could do something about it. He knew that Christian Science had always solved his problems, but this one seemed very big, and it involved other boys and girls in the neighborhood, who knew nothing about Christian Science.
