New York, New York (Eleventh Church).

Eleventh Church of Christ, Scientist, 39 West 190th Street, having fulfilled the requirement of non-indebtedness, was dedicated with special services January 1, 1950. The church was started in 1915 when it met in the home of a Christian Science practitioner. Later, as Christian Science Society, Bedford Park, it held services in Bird Hall. By 1919 the attendance growth necessitated moving to larger quarters at 2562 Briggs Avenue.

The society was incorporated in 1919 and was recognized by The Mother Church in Boston as Eleventh Church of Christ, Scientist, New York. Needing still larger quarters, the group moved to 2382 Grand Concourse in 1923, later moving to the present location. The first service was held in the present church September 27, 1931.
