My first healing in Christian Science...

My first healing in Christian Science followed my first attendance at a service during World War I conducted by a Christian Science Camp Welfare Committee. I had been sick many weeks and had been taken to the hospital several times, where treatment was given, but I was not cured. I was not told the diagnosis, but it was a respiratory difficulty. When released from the hospital I returned to my quarters quite ill and discouraged.

On the following Sunday an acquaintance invited me to attend a Christian Science service. I did not feel that I understood much that I heard, but it was comforting to hear God's Word read and explained. Following the service I talked with the First Reader a short time. During our conversation he asked if I was seeking aid in Christian Science. I answered that I would be grateful for help and told him I knew almost nothing about this religion. Help was assured and soon received, for as I marched back to my quarters, I suddenly realized that I was completely healed. Later I found that at the same time I had been healed of tonsillitis, which had troubled me for several years. I was so grateful for these healings that I began to study Christian Science. Later in the year I was healed of influenza overnight.

After my discharge from the Navy and my return home, I became very sick with an organic and nervous disease, I sought the aid of a practitioner, who lovingly worked for me and helped me to return to health. This healing was not quickly realized, but after much study and application of the truth, the difficulty was entirely eliminated, and the healing has been permanent. I am grateful for this healing and that I was enabled to conduct my business with little loss of time.
