I am most grateful for the Christian Science...

I am most grateful for the Christian Science Reading Rooms. In them I have found the healing Christ-presence.

I had suffered over a long period of time from frequent attacks of hay fever at certain seasons. While I was on my way to the Reading Room early one morning, the symptoms of this trouble argued strongly for recognition. When I entered the room, I felt a sense of God's nearness. As I began to study, the fragrance of the flowers on a nearby table came sharply to my nostrils, and just then, like an imperative command, a Bible passage came to mind: "Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?" (Isa. 2: 22.) This was indeed an angel message. I knew it was telling me to stop thinking of myself as a suffering mortal and to recognize God's creation as it is—spiritual and good.

Looking at the flowers again, I saw that their color, form, and fragrance hinted the perfection and beauty of God's creation. I knew that they, too, were in reality ideas of God and that in the perfectly ordered universe of Mind one idea could not irritate or disturb another. The harmony and beauty of creation filled my thought until suddenly the fragrance of the flowers was no longer sharp, but normally sweet; and when I left the Reading Room that morning I was healed and have never since been troubled with hay fever.
