"MY YOKE IS EASY"

What persuasive graciousness is expressed in the words of Christ Jesus (Matt. 11:30), "My yoke is easy, and my burden is light," and what a rebuke this pronouncement is to the one who feels himself bowed down by his tasks.

Utilizing and applying the joyous qualities of lightness and ease to the work at hand is both thought-provoking and hope-inspiring. The accomplishment of one's assignments with grace and buoyancy, however humble or exalted the task, is an ideal to bring out consistently in life practice. All power and ability is of God, and man, His reflection, effortlessly manifests, or expresses, this ability and power without measure or limit.

Then one may ask, "Why does the way sometimes seem so difficult, so burdensome; why do we toil and become heavy-laden in our efforts to fulfill God's purpose by expressing Him in all that we do?" Jesus' statement (John 5:17), "My Father worketh hitherto, and I work," indicates the immediacy of reflection. It was because he worked in perfect accord with God's will that his yoke was easy.
