Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Elizabeth Daily Journal

Elizabeth, New Jersey (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Elizabeth, 1251 Fairmount Avenue, was dedicated formally at its service on Sunday morning, November 13, 1949. The service was repeated in the afternoon.

The Elizabeth church has been free of debt since 1931, seven years after it was completed. At that time plans called for the auditorium now in use to be the Sunday School room and the main church auditorium to be erected later. In 1958, however, the present building was enlarged to a greater seating capacity, and several years later an electric organ was purchased.
