With a grateful heart I bear witness to a wonderful healing I experienced through Christian Science.

In the spring of 1939 I was taken ill with pains in my stomach and at times could not take any food at all. I turned to our family physician and received treatment, but my condition did not improve. Then in June, 1939, I was sent to Stralsund for an X-ray examination and returned home with the verdict, "Cancer of the stomach." I would not, however, consent to a proposed operation and continued to suffer.

In August, I had another X-ray examination at the Medical University Hospital in Greifswald. The verdict was again cancer of the stomach, and I was advised to undergo a major operation immediately. However, I first wanted to go home and put my business and private affairs in order.
