Relocation Report

[The paragraphs following are from a report prepared by the chairman of a Reading Room committee.]

Having at last completed the establishment of our Reading Room in a ground-floor location, we take joy in sharing some of the experiences that have unfolded in this progressive step.

For many years our Reading Room had been located on an upstairs floor of a business building. Although it was conceded by most of our members that a ground-floor location was desirable, all efforts to find such a place seemed fruitless. At last we were forced to give up even our upstairs quarters, an option on them having been taken up by a business firm. This all but left us without an address for our Reading Room. At the last moment another, and less desirable, upstairs location was found.

In the meantime a Reading Room committee had been appointed and instructed to work toward attainment of a ground-floor location. The committee began its work with a firm resolve to gain the true idea of Reading Room. At its first meeting it was found that each member had been guided to study an article in the Christian Science Sentinel for December 6, 1947, entitled "The Reading Room—Its Spiritual Signification." Committee members recognized that their work was to open thought to the unlimited possibilities of infinite Love and close it to the limitations of material sense. They knew they must see the spiritual import of the Reading Room as included in the structure of Love.
