Indianapolis, Indiana (Fifth Church).

Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, Indianapolis, held three identical services of dedication on Sunday, December 4, 1949, in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

A Christian Science Society was established in Broad Ripple in 1931. A room over a store at Sixty-first Street and College Avenue was the site of the first service. The increase in numbers and interest prompted the members to file a new application to The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts, for recognition as a branch church, and on June 25, 1931, an application was filed with the state of Indiana for articles of incorporation, which were granted on the same date.

In 1933 a committee was appointed to find a more suitable location for the Reading Room. This led to the decision to purchase a location for a permanent church home, and on July 27, 1933, three lots were purchased on College Avenue and Sixty-second Street. The cornerstone was laid on May 25, 1935, and on September 8, the same year, the first service was held there.—News.
