PERFECT DAY

Poems have been written and songs have been sung about a perfect day, but often they contain the saddening thought that it will vanish, slip away into darkness and night. However, when James Russell Lowell wrote the lovely, joyous lines about perfect days in June, he indicated that the effect of such rare beauty is to lift thought above all that is troubled and unhappy. He wrote:

Now the heart is so full that a drop overfills it,
We are happy now because God wills it;
