That Christian Science is a practical, demonstrable religion I have proved for myself, beyond any doubt, over a period of years.

My first opportunity to experience the healing power of this Science of Christ came at a time of great need. I had been under the care of a physician for what had been diagnosed as septic sore throat in a severe form. The suffering was intense, and grave fears were entertained for my life. In this extremity a member of my family recalled that a relative in a distant city was a Christian Scientist and asked if I would consider having Science help. I readily consented, and the relative was telephoned to. Nothing was understood of the procedure in this Science, but we obediently read and held to the promises found in the Ninety-first Psalm. That night for the first time in several days I was able to relax and sleep. I awoke the next morning to find the fever and other symptoms had disappeared, and I arose and dressed. It was an instantaneous healing.

My study of Christian Science for several years after this experience was only sporadic, for I had not yet realized the great import of this wonderful proof of God's love for all His children. But there came another testing time when complete nervous exhaustion followed business reverses and financial losses. Physicians were unable to effect the necessary relief, so once again I turned to Christian Science. This time a local practitioner was called. The loving admonition was given to rely wholly on God, and in obedience all medicines and hygienic remedies were thrown out.
