RELEASE
In
that darkest hour before dawn broke,
Chastened, rebuked, I called aloud to Thee
And felt the warmth of Love that gently spoke
Of unity between my God and me.
And now thought climbs the sacred heights of Mind,
Where stands revealed Love's heritage to man;
And sin and pain and tears are left behind,
Unreal, untrue, no part of God's great plan.
Oh, holy hour when human sense does yield
And we can gladly say, "Thy will be done,"
Love's dawn bursts through, and man is seen revealed
As image—God's beloved son.
As Enoch walked with God in other days,
So we may walk with Him and find release
From earthly shadows, grief, and formless fears,
And know the radiant beauty of God's peace.
