Twenty-one years ago I came...
Twenty-one years ago I came into Christian Science through the loving influence of my wife and her family.
At that time I was probably one of the most nervous and high-strung young men in the country. When I attended church on Sundays and Wednesdays, my condition was such that I felt impelled to sit near an exit in case I had to leave the service suddenly. I was also suffering frequently from sick headaches of a violent and prostrating nature. Many is the time I have been taken home in the family automobile, too ill to stand light or to remain upright; and I would remain in this condition, without food, for from twenty-four to thirty-six hours before relief came.
Attending the church services for a year or more, I became interested to the extent that I joined The Mother Church and a branch church and applied for class instruction from an authorized teacher. Following this I immediately became active in church affairs and continued so for twelve years.
