In many striking statements Mary Baker Eddy has emphasized the great fact that man and the universe are spiritual and perfect now. She repeatedly invites us to begin by reasoning from this standpoint, and to let the spiritual fact that God is All-in-all, Spirit, Mind, divine Principle, Love, and man His image and likeness, be the basis of our thinking. This, she makes clear, is the scientific way of deliverance from sin, disease, and death.

Our Leader has told us that we can work out our salvation through Science, that it does not have to be accomplished through suffering, although she emphasizes that it will be through one or the other. One of the most emphatic statements made by her is found on page 428 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." where she says. "The great spiritual fact must be brought out that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal." This statement is foundational to Christian Science practice and healing. When it is affirmed with the conviction of its truth, it becomes a law of health and harmony to the human mind and body. This can be proved.

Let anyone who doubts put aside the false arguments of materiality, which hold man to be mortal, fallen from grace, and subject to false laws of hygiene, accident, loss, sorrow, sin. disease, and death, and declare understanding for himself, "I am spiritual, perfect, and immortal now." When one persistently holds to this truth of his real selfhood, healing of some kind inevitably results.
