I thank God for Christian Science...

I thank God for Christian Science, given to the world by our dear Leader, Mary baker Eddy. I have had the privilege of knowing this truth from an early age", as my parents were Christian Scientists, and often as a child I realized freedom from fear and pain through knowing the truth contained in "the scientific statement of being," given on page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

Sinus trouble, toothache, and a sore ear have been overcome, and many unnamed difficulties have faded out under the light of Truth. At one time, because my husband is not a Christian Scientist, I was taken to a doctor for treatment, and his verdict was that although an operation was the only cure, until I was strong enough for it he would use medicines. When returning from a visit to the doctor, I was so discouraged that I wept distressingly and requested my husband to drop the medical treatment and have Christian Science help. He agreed to this, and I was soon out of bed and have had no return of the trouble.

Two passages from Science and Health which are extremely helpful to me are (p. 301), "As God is substance and man is the divine image and likeness, man should wish for, and in reality has, only the substance of good, the substance of Spirit, not matter;" and (p. 428), "To divest thought of false trusts and material evidences in order that the spiritual facts of being may appear,—this is the great attainment by means of which we shall sweep away the false and give place to the true."
