A Class of Eight-year-olds

The following comments regarding a class of eight-year-old boys and girls are from a Sunday School teacher in a branch church.

Eight-year-olds are inquisitive, alert, energetic, and eager for information. They are therefore very receptive to Christian Science when its truths are presented to them with renewed inspiration, enthusiasm, and respect, and with the expectation on the teacher's part of bringing out the best in each child. With this in thought. I made a point of being prepared to present the lessons in such a way that there would be something entirely new to learn each Sunday and something definite to be taken home by each child.

Often tin classwork began with a brief discussion of the subject of silent prayer in Sunday School. It was pointed out to the children that the time for silent prayer gave them an opportunity to think about their fellow students as a group and to realize in their own thought that God is guiding, protecting, and instructing all the pupils in the Sunday School. This was followed by a review of the Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation us given in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Sometimes the teacher would divide the class into two groups. One group would give the Lord's Prayer as Jesus gave it to his disciples, and the other group would give the spiritual interpretation by Mrs. Eddy.
