A copy of "Science and Health...
A copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was first placed m my hands by a beloved member of my family who had that very day received instantaneously her first healing in Christian Science and wished me to investigate this sacred truth for myself. I turned that night to its first chapter, on Prayer, and read the quotation from the New Testament which precedes the actual text:
"For verily I say unto you. That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou rust into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you. What things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
"Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him.—Christ Jesus."
