THE REALM OF MIND

With penetrating spiritual clarity the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, defines Mind as follows in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 591): "The only I, or Us; the only Spirit, Soul, divine Principle, substance, Life, Truth, Love; the one God; not that which is in man, but the divine Principle, or God, of whom man is the full and perfect expression; Deity, which outlines but is not outlined."

The one Mind is infinite, perfect, and ever present, spontaneously expressing its own self-containment in terms of spiritual ideas. Being synonymous with Life, Mind includes within itself joy, happiness, beauty, serenity, poise, peace, genuineness, health, loveliness, and freedom. These attributes of God are divinely expressed, divinely maintained, and divinely perpetuated.

Mind is the source of all real existence. Its manifestation, man, dwells in and expresses the exact nature of divine Mind. Spiritual understanding, resulting from the prayerful study of the sacred, inspiring Word of the Bible, together with our Leader's writings, reveals that divine Mind is consciously expressing itself, and that expression is man, including the universe of right ideas. In this pure recognition man's spiritual nature is perceived and experienced.
